Scones
Why scones you ask? Because they are my favorite. Yes, scones. Hear me out.
Scones have become one of my favorite things to bake over the past few years. My children now expect them for breakfast most mornings and my friends and family are never surprised to see me show up to play dates, get-togethers, or just at their front door with a plateful to share. I would have never guessed that scones would have become my claim to fame.
Now, before you totally dismiss my scones, let me explain. I know that most of the time when people think of scones they think of hard, biscuit type breads. That is not true of a properly made scone.
A well made scone has layers similar to a biscuit to be sure, but that is where the resemblance should end. Properly done, a scone will be soft, tender, somewhat hard on the outside, but then moist and slightly crumbly on the inside.
Whether you are enjoying a sweet or savory scone, it will be perfect with a nice warm drink. A scone and a fresh, hot cup of coffee is one of my favorite ways to start my day.
